Chemise pour homme en soie Xiangyunsha, couleur Checked Nocturne. Un tissage dobby à carreaux monochromes qui révèle un relief texturé.
She knew why the boss was calling her in.
Not long ago, she had a personal conflict with a colleague, who had just stepped out of his office with a faint smile on her face.
Entering the room with hesitation, she saw him standing by the window.
He was wearing a black, short-sleeved silk shirt in a monochrome check.
Under the rays of an inquisitive sun, the fabric appeared almost dusted, while the check, smoldering in the shadows, began to shimmer with a multitude of jagged glints from the erratic crinkles in the weave.
“Take a seat,” he said. “You know why I called you in, don’t you?”
He questioned her about the situation, listening intently.
He offered solutions, never interrupting; he didn't give in to her whims, but gently guided her.
All this time, she was staring at his shirt.
She could see that it was unevenly dyed in places, emphasizing the authenticity of the fabric — just like his sincere desire to help her resolve the situation, or so she thought at that moment.
All of his arguments and logic were simple and consistent, just like the check on his shirt. But that was only at first glance.
Looking closer at this relief, one could see how a wide horizontal or vertical stripe would give way to a narrower one. The fourth stripe — the narrowest of all — resembled a tightly drawn string.
His shirt was turning into a masterfully performed nocturne, in which he, with the very same ease, flexibility, and diplomacy, left her with no desire to go against him.
Leaving his office, she noticed that she was smiling.

Textile Art & Heritage:
The Checked Nocturne shirt is crafted from collectible Xiangyunsha silk (Gambiered Guangdong Silk) — one of the rarest, most exclusive, and environmentally sacred textiles in the world, designated as a national cultural heritage.
This is neither an applied overlay nor a traditional multi-layered jacquard weave. Instead, it is an engineered, monochrome Dobby micro-grid, architecturally woven from a precise combination of boiled silk and structural raw silk.
The mesmerizing identity of this check is born through different physical expressions during the year-long maturation: while the boiled silk lines surrender to the water and sun, contracting into delicate crinkles with a shifting, fluid-like satin luster, the raw silk core inside the cells settles into a dense, matte canvas. This unrepeatable structural duality creates a striking, multi-dimensional play of light and shadow across the fabric.
Process & Technology
Botanical Tannins:
The silk is immersed up to 30 times in the natural juice of wild Dioscorea cirrhosa roots, then spread flat on grass fields to dry under the open sky. This exhaustive organic infusion completely saturates the entire textile framework with rich, natural plant tannins, creating the deep, cognac-brown core.
River Mud Fermentation:
The face of the fabric is coated entirely by hand with iron-rich silt harvested exclusively from the Pearl River delta. The iron minerals trigger a slow chemical metamorphosis, reacting with the botanical tannins on the surface to lock a deep, matte graphite shade onto the exterior canvas, while leaving the inner side untouched and beautifully brown. This natural mineral sediment inherently resists uniform saturation. Because the raw river mud varies in its organic consistency, the stubborn raw silk cells naturally resist deep dyeing, while the liquid silt cannot always flow beneath the crinkles of the boiled silk. This leaves intentional, sun-baked hints of the cognac-brown tannin core exposed — a signature marker of authentic, untamed craftsmanship.
Tailoring & Finishes:
Once the collective Xiangyunsha canvas has completed its year-long natural maturation and achieved its fixed structural shrinkage, the shirt is meticulously tailored on the artisan's table. The finished garment undergoes a final delicate washing to soften the structural seams, subtly integrating the stitching with the weathered, organic texture of the graphite silk.
Results
Natural Mineral Shield:
Due to the iron-rich river silt fermentation, a microscopic mineral layer forms naturally on the silk’s surface. This sun-baked film prevents the fabric from absorbing heavy humidity or sweat, ensuring a constant, refreshing airflow in high heat. The shirt never clings to the body, offering a dry, cooling touch even in oppressive summer glare.
The Ironing Ban:
Ironing is strictly forbidden. Subjecting the shirt to hot steam or heavy pressure will permanently crush the delicate, boiled silk borders. This intense heat and weight flatten the living, crinkled texture, destroying the beautifully distorted geometry and the shifting, fluid-like luster that the washed silk naturally developed. The garment is engineered to maintain its structural drape solely through the natural physics of its raw and boiled weave.
