This sweater doesn’t follow the usual rule: that form must serve the pattern, enclosed within strict boundaries.
Here, the pattern refuses to obey.
A diamond motif runs down the front: inside each one — a smaller diamond, worked in reverse stockinette.
But just as the eye begins to catch the rhythm — it slips away.
The front panel extends onto the shoulders, where the seam is shifted back, evoking a raglan-like construction.
A subtle illusion emerges: the diamonds aren’t embedded into the form — they seem to float above it, suspended by air and shoulder line.
This invites the gaze to wander, hesitate, question.
Not every pattern is meant to deceive the eye.
Some are made to unsettle, to decode, to compare.
And some — to stir a memory.
Not the kind you can name.
The kind you can feel.
